Just like humans, a dog’s life is limited. Losing our dogs is inevitable, but it is part of life. Losing our dog because they go missing, though, is one of the most painful ordeals a dog lover has to deal with.
This kind of scenario could have been prevented in so many ways. That is why the pain felt by dog lovers is double compared to losing a dog through death. What more if someone who is sick loses his or her source of strength?
Kameroun Mares, an American, is no stranger to this feeling as she experienced this first hand. Her beloved husky, Semper Fidelis, went missing one day.
Semper Fidelis, which is the English translation of the Latin phrase Always Faithful, has always been true to her name. The dog became Mares’ source of strength as the latter battles a rare disease.
The two first met in the most unconventional time. It was during the time Mares was undergoing treatment for her acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
It was in the hospital that the two met when Mares was undergoing chemotherapy session. Mares described her first meeting with the dog as love at first sight. She then decided to adopt the pooch.
Not long enough, though, the pooch went missing when Mares was at a hospital in California to have her monthly chemotherapy. It was Mares’ roommate who informed her about Semper’s disappearance.
When she learned about this, Mares immediately went home to look for the dog. She even sought the help of everyone she knew from the neighborhood, including the police. All efforts proved futile.
To her desperation, Mares hired a private investigator to look into the case. It was later found out that Semper was stolen. The burglar even changed Semper’s name.
Two years later, a post on Craiglist says that Semper was being sold. Mares immediately traced the seller and reported it to the police.
After all the dilemma, the two reunited once again, and the pooch never forgot Mares even after the long years they were apart. Adding to the celebration is that Mares is already in remission, meaning she is free from cancer.
Watch at your own risk of crying immediately. Here is the video and audio from Kameroun Mares reunion with her dog Semper today. 😭💙 and Ana Campos Investigations – South Florida. Please keep in mind Kameroun is just 26 years old. She was 23 when this began. For a young girl to have the wherewithal and courage to hire a private investigator and attorney is remarkable. Shame on Petkey pets for causing her to suffer and spend her savings on fighting for her dog back because of the role they played. He was stolen and sold by her roommate 2 1/2 years ago. She was told he was lost on April 30, 2016. But on April 11, 2016 the buyer added their name to his AKC Reunite "registered chip". They registered this registered chip on Petkey pets instead. Petkey pets did not bother to see if he was chipped already. A lawyer was retained. An ex-parte, pre judgment. writ of replevin and request for a 'break order' was filed. The Judge ruled in her favor and the Sheriff's office seized the dog this morning returning him to the person who always had superior ownership rights.
